Federal Supreme Court
in Dubai
The Federal Supreme Court of the United Arab Emirates, also known as the Union Supreme Court, serves as the highest federal court within the country. It handles appeals against judgments from the Federal Court of Appeal and has original jurisdiction over specific cases, including disputes between emirates. The court operates under the oversight of the Ministry of Justice.
Despite being the highest judicial authority in the UAE, its jurisdiction does not extend across all seven emirates. Both Dubai and Ras Al Khaimah maintain their own local judicial systems. According to Article 96 of the UAE Constitution, the Supreme Court of the Union comprises a President and a maximum of five Judges, appointed by decree from the President of the Union following approval by the Supreme Council.
